I am pleased to report that the original master tapes from "Lay Down The Law" have been transferred to the digital format for remastering - this is
TRUE progress towards getting this CD out on Shrapnel Records in the months to come.
Master tapes that are that old (22 years) go through a process called 'baking' in order to make them playable - Aaron & I went through this when
we 'baked' some old Steeler masters for the Anthology. They literally put the master tapes in a confectioner's oven, turn it on 120 degrees, and leave
'em in there for about 12 hours. Pretty scary. But apparently the LDTL masters came through without incident are now in a perfect state of digital
preservation.
We will be adding a bonus track and many KEEL photos from the early days in the CD booklet - I'll keep you posted step-by-step...

GUESS WHAT I'M LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW.
The brand new digitally remastered 'LAY DOWN THE LAW' CD.
I am really surprised how good it sounds - I never listened past the first song of the bootleg version because thwe quality was so poor. And I haven't
spun the vinyl since the 80's. But this brings back so many memories..."Til Hell Freezes Over" sent shivers up my spine.
I'm glad to see (and hear) that this project is in the final stages. We plan on making this an Enhanced CD with vintage live KEEL concert videos
included on the disc.

I met with Mike Varney (the president of Shrapnel Records, and the man behind the Steeler album and KEEL's "Lay Down The Law") this evening -
actually, we got up on stage together and jammed at a club here in Vegas called the Tailspin. Sang some ZZ Top & Zeppelin...had a great time
hanging together.
We finalized our plans to release the digitally re-mastered CD of "Lay Down The Law" - a state-of-the-art digi-pak with rare photos, the story behind
the band and the album, and enhanced video concert footage from KEEL's debut performance at The Country Club in Reseda/L.A. from May 27 1984.
We have worked for years to make this happen, and I think it's safe to say that there's a light at the end of the tunnel - no confirmed release date
yet, but I'd bet we're looking at early '07.
I'll keep you posted, of course.

Wow, this is some pretty fantastic news. I actually just had my LP version put on CD...my friend did it for me so I could get them on my MP3 player to
take with me on vacation. She also did FF and the Steeler album for me as well. I was overjoyed listening to these songs again....can't wait to hear a
remastered version!!!
