Summer 2007

PITA - 6-3-2007 at 12:53 PM

Hi Ron it's been awhile since we've seen or heard from you on this message board! What's on your calendar for Summer 2007? I'm sure everyone is hoping to see that you are back on the road and making a stop near them. ;)

I haven't gone into hiding - or God forbid, retirement...

I've been totally consumed with my latest venture, and I'm proud to announce that I am now the Producer of my very own Las Vegas show. Of course I am performing in the show also, as Ronnie Dunn from Brooks & Dunn...

The "Country Superstars Tribute" is Las Vegas' ONLY Country Tribute show, and has just secured a contract at Fitzgerald's (aka "The Fitz") on Fremont Street in downtown Sin City. The show will run Thursday through Monday, at 7 pm nightly, beginning June 21. I am implementing my own vision, and I intend to maintain my standards of putting on the best show possible; this is a live concert-type event, with a smoking 5-piece band and America's premier celebrity tributes to Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and of course Brooks & Dunn.

I am co-producing the show with my long-time friend Leonard Quenneville, who worked with us on the first 3 IronHorse videos back in 2001. My condition as a control-freak is well-documented, and with this project I certainly have my hands full with the cast, band, staff, and crew, music, schedules, promotion and marketing, budgets, and a million other details (I had no idea what it took to really pull this off). I feel fortunate to have this opportunity - there are only a small handful of people who can say they've produced their own show at a Vegas casino - and I plan on working myself to death and having a blast doing it.

This doesn't mean I'm forsaking any of my other projects or interests, but obviously this is a full-time gig that will demand all of my energy and attention. We are committed to a 3-month run through September 24th, so we'll see what happens.

I hope some of my people will make vacation plans to visit us at some point - The Fitz is the largest of Vegas' downtown hotels, and has nice accommodations at reasonable rates, and downtown/Fremont Street is a blast. Details are below, and I urge you to check out the new site http://countrysuperstarstribute.com and our Myspace page http://myspace.com/countrysuperstarstribute

Long overdue for an update...

Hope everyone is having a great summer. We are currently enjoying one hell of a heat wave out here, 116 degrees right now and it's not even noon yet. Of course, my stagewear for this gig consists of a long sleeve shirt and jacket...

Speaking of the show, it is going great - we are halfway through our third week, and things are building nicely. We had our first sellout on Thursday, and record crowds over the weekend (Friday & Saturday, interestingly enough, are the toughest to sell in Vegas - probably because there's so much competition for the entertainment dollar). Getting some good press - the Las Vegas Review Journal has a cool slideshow featured in the multimedia section of their web site this morning: http://www.reviewjournal.com/webextras/countrysuperstars/sli...

For the KEELaholic who has everything, we have show merchandise now available - full-color program books autographed by the cast, shirts & 8x10's, and poker chips coming soon - visit http://countrysuperstarstribute.com and click on 'merchandise'

I want to congratulate my brothers in IronHorse on their new CD release "Change My Religion" - Gaetano played me some of the tracks during my last visit to Ohio and I'm very proud of the work the guys have done, I hope it does really well - their CD release party is next week, for more visit http://ironhorseband.com

And while on the subject of IronHorse alumni, I hope my brother Snakkdaddy is having a great summer on the road with his band 80z-Enuff - thanks for the Jorn CD Snakk, I've been enjoying it every chance I get. Definitely an awesome vocalist.

Gotta run now, I'll be back...
