Road Report: Y&T & RK in Northern California
Checking in from Petaluma, California, where I am spending the weekend opening for Y&T. Last night's show was awesome - we are at the Mystic
Theatre, which is a beautiful venue, the sound is killer, and most of all, the crowd is INCREDIBLE. What a great bunch of people - they gave my Ohio
People a run for their money. There were times during my gig when I just stopped playing and singing, threw my arms in the air, and the audience kept
on singing the song. So cool.
My good buddy Eric Martin (vocalist for Mr. Big, Eric Martin Band, etc) joined me onstage to sing Humble Pie's "30 Days In The Hole", he's a killer
singer and a great dude.
These shows are an annual event for Y&T, and this is their homecoming party every year - so they raised the bar even higher than they usually do,
with a very long (2 1/2 hours!) show which included a lot of extra material. They sounded amazing, and were kind enough to invite Eric & I onstage
with them for "Summertime Girls" (this is becoming a tradition I can live with).
Tonight promises to be more of the same - the show is sold out, and there is a pre-show party which I feel compelled to attend...I will let you know
how it goes.
HUGE thanks to Dave & Jill Meniketti, bandmates Phil, John, & Mike, Chrys and all the Y&T crew, Eric 'E-Mart' Martin, everyone at the
Mystic Theatre and Notable Entertainment, and especially all the super cool fans who are making this weekend one of the high points of '06 for me.
As of right now I am watching THE Ohio State Buckeyes beat Michigan, so it's already a good day....more later....

I was at the Saturday show.
All you Keel fans know what your gonna get when Ron comes to town. You can feel his heart and soul in every performance.
What a special evening with Ron and the Y&T crew. Fans from all over the globe make the journey for this weekend every year and having Ron with us
this time out raised the bar to a whole new level! I hope, one way or another, he makes more trips to the coast.
Ron was as gracious as ever. Felt like old times(exept I drink wine not beer now ) Thanks Ron for putting up with my drunk ass. I got some good pics and video clips I hope to post.
So, to all the Ron Keel fans out there, keep the Y&T Mystic weekend in mind. We'd love to have you here with us and with any luck Ron might be a
part of it again.

What a great weekend. Like I said on-stage both nights, I know Y&T could have had their choice of opening acts for this event, and I was real glad
to get the call. Everyone associated with the Y&T family, from Dave on down to the fans, have been very good to me in 2006, and this was a hell of
a climax.
I made a lot of new friends from all over the the pre & post show parties - these were held at a near-by location, hosted by a wonderful girl
named Janine, Dave and Phil each had their own brand of home-brewed beer named after them, there was an Alice In Chains Tribute band playing, food,
and lots of cool people. I'm sure some pictures will turn up...
Saturday's gig was, I think, even better than the previous night. After the gig Friday, I knew the theatre would be packed and that I cound count on
this crowd to have a good time, and I had already gotten comfortable with the sound and the stage the night before...like being in the house band...
Thanks Rudy for posting the videos...very cool.
By the way, I got through the weekend with yet ANOTHER broken guitar. I think the baggage handlers at Southwest Airlines in Las Vegas lick their chops
when they see my guitars...then they pounce of the case and jump up and down. The front of the guitar was cracked where it meets the body, up on top
where your arm rests on the body, and the crack extended to the little box on top containing the elecronic components. Superglue would not work this
time, so I used black duct tape to re-attach the face of the guitar to the body. It sounded fine, played fine, and stayed in tune. Dean Guitars kick
ass.
My set list was the same both nights, with 1 exception:
Private Lies
Serenade
Because The Night
Tears Of Fire
The Time Of My Life
Shooting Star
30 Days In The Hole w/ Eric Martin (Friday) - Show On The Road (Saturday)
Heaven & Hell
The Right To Rock

Ron, it would be cool if you and Y & T did a show here in Salt Lake. That would be a blast!! Last time Y & T was here the place was packed.
And more people would be there if they knew you were coming too.
I know quite a few people that are bummed because they missed you last time you were here.
They are all jealous because I got to meet you and get my picture taken with you, and they didn't. They keep telling me to let them known next time
your coming back.

Hey ya'll, thanks for all the responses and comments, and welcome to the new People from the Y&T Nation! Awesome.
New ink courtesy of Desert Ink Tattoo Inc., Las Vegas Nevada, received last Tuesday November 14. And the nail is RED, not freakin' PINK - pink is the
color of my skin, if I had a PINK nail you wouldn't even see it. It's RED just like it used to be. The resurrection of an old tradition. RED. Candy
apple Steeler/KEEL RED.
It's looking like March before I can put together some Ohio dates - will the ice be thawed by then? I am planning on having a kick-ass band behind me
for that mini-tour of Ohio/PA/NY. More details soon.
Ya'll rock.

Ron,
sounds like an amazing weekend in California. I wish I was there. Any chance that March mini-tour can stretch out to New England?
