Road Report 5-8-05
Keel & Wayne road trip, Day 3...feels like day 43...Friday in Monteagle TN, last night in La Grange KY, and now we are locked in our Columbus
hotel trying to catch up on business and music and hopefully get some rest. We are ready to start the KEEL & WAYNE Ohio Invasion tomorrow night.
The Monteagle TN show was a great experience - a beautiful outdoor amphitheater, the weather was perfect and the people were great, thanks to Earl
Nunley from WPEG radio for makng us a part of this event...Grand Ol Opry Star Billy Walker was on the bill, as well as Johnny Cash's younger brother
Tommy Cash, and we were proud to share the stage with them...after a day of what was pretty much traditional country music, KEEL & WAYNE was a bit
of a shock to some of those in attendance but the response was great and everyone there felt the energy and the power of the Rockin' Rodeo that IS
K&W...
Last night in La Grange Kentucky was another unique experience - it was an all-ages show which allowed us to expose ourselves (well, expose our music,
at least) to a young crowd that proved to us that good songs and an entertaining show can always bridge any gaps in age and taste. We want to thank
the venue, owners Jim & Susan, and all the fans young and younger that made this a very special night for us.
I'm clocking out now, after a long drive, a couple of 12 packs, 5 new songs we wrote today, a ton of promotional work, hours of phone calls, a
mountain of contracts and other paperwork, and I'm gonna rest up for the kickoff of the KEEL & WAYNE Ohio Invasion tomorrow night at Amore in
Westerville Ohio. Hope to see my People at the shows this week, and I'll keep you updated on the adventure as it unfolds.

Road Report Friday The 13th Of May 2005!!!
Sorry we've been scarce, this week has been a blast and a bitch at the same time. We are working real hard, playing real hard, singing real hard, and
partying real hard - pouring our hearts out on stage every night. The fingers on our left hands feel like somebody beat on them with a hammer, and our
throats feel like we've been force fed sandpaper. When this Ohio invasion is over, we can truthfully say "I Gave It All To You"!!!
We have so many friends to thank for their support this week, it has been great hanging out with ya'll. Jimmy & Karen Hahn have been out a couple
of times, and Jimmy was a huge help in tweaking the sound system, thank you brother! My IronHorse brethren have been out in force (Geno I better see
you tonight MF) - Gaetano was at our first show on Monday, and Dean has been out the last couple of nights, sitting in with us, playing some mandolin
& harmonica and adding his harmony vocals.
It was great to see Chris Wicks on Wednesday & I was proud to present him with my former acoustic guitar - the black Dillion horse guitar. I know
it will be safe & appreciated.
Want to thank all the other friends and fans that have welcomed KEEL & WAYNE to Ohio, and I know that now that so many of my friends have met
Charlie they love him like I do. He's a great partner in crime, always has a smile and a good attitude, sings his ass off, plays great guitar, and
puts on a great show.
Want to thank Leah Miller, our opening act on a few of the shows, she is a great talent and a sweetheart and we hope to get her on some more shows
with us - I especially loved her version of the Dire Straits tune "Romeo & Juliet".
Word is getting out about the brawl we were involved in at Scooter's on Wednesday night. I am compelled to set the record straight - we were not the
cause of the altercation (I never did find out what started it) and we were in no way involved with instigating the fight. The club owner, Scotty, was
in the middle of it however - and Scotty had treated us like gold all day and went the extra mile to bring our show into his venue and take good care
of us, so we were not going to stand around and watch while he was getting tossed around. So our tour manager Jeff grabbed a guy twice his size (and
Jeff's a big boy) and carried him outside, and I grabbed a pool cue (which luckily I did not have to use). In the end, no one was hurt and we don't
want to get a bad reputation for being rowdy or anything...K&W shows are all about having a good time and celebrating friendship & music!!!
We're winding up for the weekend, starting with Big George's in Plain City tonight - I know this is the one everybody's been waiting for, and we are
BRINGING IT HOME on this Friday the 13th!!! Dean Lehman will be out again to jam with us, we have some very talented opening acts this evening -
Charlie Tatman, who is a great singer & performer & a true Musical Spirit, and my old friend Mike Phillips who is one of the best songwriters
I know. It's going to be off the hook in Plain City tonight. Time to head out for soundcheck, I'll see you tonight!!!!
