Prog Power VII
Hey All--
Yeah, I know it's been a while. Just had an amusing story to tell--
This year, I attended the Prog Power music festival in Atlanta, where once again, my association with the Boss made me a minor celebrity.
ProgPower is a 3-day event featuring a bunch of progressive hard rock/metal bands, nearly all of them from Europe (this generally is their only chance
to come over here, as touring in the States is financially unfeasible for them).
Anyhow, the headliner on the last day (and my main reason for attending the whole shebang in the first place) was a Norwegian singer by the name of
Jorn Lande. Jorn, among many other things, once did half a tour back in 1999 or 2000 fronting for none other than the infamous Yngwie Malmsteen. So,
once word got out that the recent guitarist (myself) for Ron Keel --the man that brought Yngwie to the states in the first place---was in the house, I
suddenly had a whole bunch of new fans to talk to (and drink with) which was very cool. All of them had nice things to say about Ron and IronHorse.
And since none of you would be on this board if you weren't a fan of top-notch vocals; I urge anyone who is not familiar with Jorn to check out his
stuff. He's mind-bogglingly good. Take David Coverdale and Dio on their best days, pump them both full of steroids, throw them in a blender and add
some titanium and you have Jorn. And, after spending several hours with him at various times at the festival--including backstage and at his hotel, I
can attest that he's as courteous and giving of himself to his fans as RK himself is.

Hotels can be very expensive in the area. However, I found a Super 8 on Peachtree St. thru hotels.com for a very low (comparatively) price and it's
less than a half mile walk to the venue.
