REPORT: Misc etc
Hello everybody - as usual, I must start my post with the usual apologies. Sorry for not posting sooner and keeping my People in the loop, sorry for
all the unanswered e-mails & unreturned phone calls. To say I've been busy would be like calling Pamela Anderson homely. Yesterday, I had 41
minutes sleep - no sleep the night before, as I went straight from a gig to an all-night recording session. The only reason I got 41 minutes sleep
yesterday is because I passed out on the couch after putting a load in the dryer, and the bell goes off after 41 minutes when the clothes are dry.
To explain my insane pace: I have been doing double duty, wrapping up my contract with "Country Music USA" (we just had nearly a month of consecutive
performances in Laughlin NV) while developing the Sin City Exiles project with Paul Shortino and our guys....commuting the 100 miles back and forth to
Vegas for rehearsals, and doing the CMUSA gigs at night. Last Sunday I had to beat it back to Vegas after the show for a midnight photo session on the
Strip. I'll post one of these pics.
My final CMUSA show was Wednesday, our first Sin City exiles gig Thursday, not a lot of breathing room but the last couple nights have been rocking.
Also, I have been developing a Vegas Country tribute show called the "Country Superstars Tribute", acting as co-producer of the show which we hope
will debut at a major Las Vegas showroom within the next couple of months.
All this while pushing the deadline for the Ron Keel anthology CD which comes out in a few weeks - this double CD has been a monster chore for myself,
our graphics guru Stewart Johnson, Retrospect Records, Aaron Fischer, Shannon Champion, and the whole team, but all the pieces are in place and it
looks like we just might make our release date. I really want this disc in hand when we hit Detroit, Ohio, Virginia & New York in a few weeks. I
will attach the final version of the new CD cover.
Oh yeah, also coordinating these tour dates and arranging travel, gear, rehearsals, promotion, radio & media...I of course have had an active hand
in all that. Unfortunately the Cincinnati dates March 28-29 have been postponed, but everything else remains solid.
Oh yeah, and we (my Brooks & Dunn partner Eric York & I) will be appearing on the new ABC prime time show "The Next Best Thing" - this is like
"American Idol" for celebrity impersonators, and we are auditioning as Brooks & Dunn, filming the show opening at 8:30 am Monday after I get done
with the final gig of the week, tomorrow (Sunday) night's NASCAR weekend finale with the Sin City Exiles. This should be interesting.
After the audition Monday, I am getting in my truck and heading for the desert for a few days to recuperate, so don't expect any returned phone calls
or answered e-mails.
I'll check back in when I get a minute...
