George McCorkle

I just found this bulletin on MySpace. This is sad news indeed. George wrote/co-wrote the IronHorse songs "Bring It On" and "The Best Move". In addition, he was a good friend to everyone in the band during my time with IH and he honestly thought highly of us and wanted us to succeed. We had a great time with him on the few occasions he joined us on stage for a song or two as a special guest. He had spoken to me about playing on his next solo album, but I guess that won't be happening now. My thoughts are with him.

- Repost from Lee Bogan:

Friends, George doesn't have long, I just talked to his dear wife Vivianne and she asked for prayers that George doesn't linger and suffer, that he will pass peacefully. I am passing along thoughts and heartfelt prayers from all the guys in Ronnie McDowell's band that I tour with. Thank you to all that have been praying for the McCorkle family and God bless you.

Hello Folks,
I've just heard some horrible news...George McCorkle, one of the original members of The Marshall Tucker Band, has been diagnosed with cancer. The following was posted on his web site:

“This is the hardest announcement I have ever had to make. However, the family has asked me to make it. George McCorkle, founding member of the Marshall Tucker Band is currently in the hospital fighting cancer. Unfortunately, the very devastating disease has spread thru his body and the doctors do not feel he has much longer to suffer. His family asks that you respect his privacy. However, well wishes, prayers, and notes can be emailed to me thru Bruce@GeorgeMcCorkle.com and Vivianne and I will read them to him.

Vivianne, George, Justin, and the McCorkle family ask that you send up prayers for George.”

There's a plan formulating to do some type of fund raising concert in the Upstate South Carolina area. Any bands interested in donating their time and efforts, PLEASE contact me (Skydog) at my regular e-mail address skydog123@yahoo.com to find out more details. Plus anyone else having talents in concert production/promotions, etc are welcome to help. Skydog Music and Skydog Graphics will be heavily involved...but we need a LOT of help !!!

George has a Myspace site at George McCorkle Myspace and a main site at George McCorkle Main Site Please visit and send your support.
