RIP Hughie

Sorry that I have not been on in a long while but they have been drivin me like a slave at work. This whole summer has been filled with 6 and 7 day work weeks. But, I had to come share this sad sad news.

Hughie Thomasson died unexpectedly late Sunday night of an apparent heart attack at his home in Brooksville, Florida.

Joy and I met Hughie a few years ago when IronHorse opened for the Outlaws reunion tour. He was very down to earth and became Joys personal protector that night...LOL!! Joy had just had shoulder surgery and was in a full arm cast for the show. Anytime she was around Hughie, for the picture poses or meet and greet or whatever, he made sure EVERYONE knew to watch out for her shoulder. Then at the end he signed her cast and danced with her.....LOL!! What a great guy.

FOr me it was dealing with him back stage. Crackin jokes and then trying to get on stage during IronHorse performing Dixie Highway. Henry Paul ran out on stage and joined RK and the boys and Hughie was looking for his guitar but his tech was no where around......he wasnt to happy about that. But Hughie was definatly into the IronHorse performance and was among the first to congratulate them and told them they put on a kick ass performance.

Hughie will be greatly missed and I have heard from the Lynyrd Skynyrd camp, Hughie played guitar for LS for quite a few years recently, that they are planning some sort of tribute to him. What yet exactly has not been revealed.

Another great has passed. Goodbye Hughie.
