first keel concert

It was the fall of 1985 at the Rainbow music Hall, denver colorado. Keel opened for loudness that night. They started with Back to the city and just ripped through the 1st two lps and some steeler. Iremember Ron grabbing Bryan Jay during his introductions of the band and saying "This is the hair that drives all the girls crazy", then he went over to marc and downed some J.D.( suspect was actually tea, but i was 15 ya know).

When Keel was done, the roadies came out to get the stage ready for keel , and the first thing they did was lower the mic stands by atleast a foot:D I laughed so hard at that.Come to think of it, they might not have lowered the one marc used, lol.Just kiddin. What a cool night.
After the show i walked outside and saw Keel's motorhome.Being a kid, i just walked on like i belonged there.First thing i see is Bryan Jay in the corner with two hot girls. It was then i made up my mind that i needed to be a rockstar.I can drive around in motorhomes, see the world and get any girl i wanted.Years later, i wound up dating one of the girls Byran was with. Its a small rock and roll world after all.Eventually i was asked to leave the motorhome but that was my first glimpse into being a rock and roller, Thanks guys!

Wow, I would've loved to have seen that tour. I started listening to both bands at the same time, and am still a huge fan of both today. I never got to see either band live. :(

Yeah, that show was killer. Keel just blew me away that night. I saw the camo guitar for the first time in person, which i now own! And who could forget Bryan Jays twighlight zone guitar and Rons leopard Kramer. The songs sounded amazing, rons voice was dead on and they just looked like they were having a great time. I wanted to be them so bad after that.

Loudness came out and like i said, the mic stands had to be lowered by a foot, i still laugh when i think of that sight. I remember they had a huge backline of marshalls and they were LOUD. Akira was awesome great tone and stage presence. The singers engrish was bad, which made the between song banter very funny to a 15 yr old. "Are ru ready to parteee??? Too funny. They played all of "east" lp.

After the show, before i jumped in Keels RV, i heard some guys singing "wok n woll crwazy rice", everytime i hear that song i think of that moment.

The rainbow was the place that all the up and comers played.Bon Jovi, MOTLEY, RATT, ROUGH CUTT, ALCATRAZZ W/VIA, YNGWIE BLACK AND BLUE, ECT....i saw dozens of killer concerts of bands i still dig to this day. Across the street was a place called colfax music, which was the first store i found charvels and jacksons at. The mcdonalds was a sure plce to see the band before or after the show.I saw Oz Fox from stryper walk in there with a girl on each arm.Very cool.
